I love making morning smoothies, or after-workout smoothies for myself, but every time I turn on the blender, the boys come running over, wanting a smoothie too!
This is NOT a bad thing. My kids wanting fruit, yogurt and juice, is a GOOD thing, I think! It is just that I have learned that smoothies for the boys only come on my days at home with them, and not at 7am before I leave for work…Sometimes you have to draw some boundaries, even when the outcome is a good one!
So today, I am home, and just finished the last of my runs before the big day! I needed a little snack after that would be a repenisher of protein and carbs. Here is mine:
And for the kids, I don’t use protein and I mix up the recipe a little:
Keep it all the same, just leave out the protein, and use plain yogurt for the almond milk (more nutrients) and I use juice instead of water to boost the flavor for them. Today it was orange juice, vanilla yogurt, and strawberries. They only like the pink, not the purple smoothies…sweet boys!
