I have said it before here on H.A.G. and I will say it now: homemade cakes are cheaper, healthier (not always), more creative, can be adapted to suit tastes, and easy to do on-the-fly. That said, I have been pregnant through a few of my kid’s birthdays or had one too many things on my plate to get a homemade cake done on time, and in an un-airconditioned kitchen in the middle of July….So, I buy them. From BJs, Walmart, or anywhere that will let me do what I want, when I want it…which is sometimes less than 24 hours!
Homemade cakes make me happy, but if I am too stressed out to enjoy my kid’s birthday because of a cake well then…I am missing the point. I do not live to Pinterest my life. I live it to live it, right? So here are the cakes that I HAVE made, and I am ironically, Pinterest posting them; Not so you cimpromptu and an do the same thing, but so you can see my imperfect cakes that were thoroughly enjoyed! Not to take not of these not so great pictures in imperfect lighting, but to notice their authentic and impromptu nature. Take a peek:
