Jalapeño Popper Pizza | Hardly A GoddessDo you love spicy food or do you like it mild? This is the week that the Sunday Supper Bloggers have shown their clear fondness for some good kickin’ heat and something sweet and spicy too! We came up with some amazing recipes to share with all our Sunday Supper fans! So read on if you love the idea of a little heat with your favorite: Jalapeño Popper Pizza!

I choose HOT heat. I like a sweet hot too, but heat is something that can really accentuate flavors. Now the carrier for that heat has to be toned down, otherwise your day is just ruined! Since, I have always been a pizza fan, heat here is a natural fit.  I could eat pizza cold or hot. For breakfast or dinner. I am also a big fan of appetizers. Combining the two is a huge, “Yes.” I have made my Buffalo Chicken Pizza and a BBQ Pizza over and over to the delight of no one, maybe but myself, but that is enough! I love it.

Jalapeño “poppers” are those little appetizers that you want to order in a restaurant, but don’t because they are so indulgent and cheese and FRIED, and you want to save room for dinner, so you don’t…This is my solution! A jalapeño popper + pizza. It’s the appetizer and dinner in one. You are welcome! This is a WIN.

There are lots of recipes for Jalapeño Poppers, or even the dip featuring the same ingredients. So the pizza isn’t too far off from this: Melty cheese, fiery jalapenos, and a crispy crust. Simple! Oh, and bacon. That part is optional for you meat lovers out there~Jalapeno Popper Pizza | Hardly A Goddess

Jalapeño Popper Pizza

Jalapeño Popper Pizza

Creamy, hot and cheesy pizza...with a KICK! The best part is, I have used low-fat ingredients to make this a lot lower in fat and calories but big on taste! Enjoy~

Ingredients

  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup mayo
  • ½ brick low-fat (not non-fat) cream cheese brought to room temperature
  • 3-4 fresh jalapeno peppers
  • 3 slices bacon
  • 1 shallot, sliced
  • 1 Tbsp. oil
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mexican-blend, or cheddar cheese

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 400*.

In a small bowl mix the garlic, mayo, and cream cheese until smooth and spreadable. Mix in the seeded and minced jalapenos. Reserve a bit for the garnish. Set aside.

Saute the sliced shallot in 1 Tbsp. oil until crispy. Set aside.

Cook the bacon, and chop or crumble. Set aside.

Roll out your dough, or if you are using a prebaked one, skip this step.

Spread the jalapeno mixture evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the shallot and bacon, and top with shredded cheese.

Bake for 12-15 additional minutes, watching that the top isn’t burned, and the edges are lightly browned and the cheese is bubbly. Remove from the oven, cut into slices, garnish with any reserved jalapeno, and serve.

Notes

For a really crispy crust, you can pre-bake your dough for 5 minutes at 400 before you add the toppings. Just cool it a bit first, and then proceed with the recipe.
