Plain and simple. This is a great homemade brownie recipe. No frosting needed. Just rich, chocolate flavor. A total keeper made of basic ingredients. Love.
It is straight from the back of a Nestle Cocoa Container with some minimal changes to suit my family:
- 1 2/3 cup sugar
- ¾ cup butter, melted
- 2 TBSP water
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 1/3 cup all purpose flour
- ¾ cup baking cocoa
- ½ tsp baking powder
- ¼ tsp salt
- ½ cup mini chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350*. Grease a 8x8” baking pan.
Combine the sugar, eggs, and vanilla until combined.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, cocoa, powder, and salt (the dry ingredients) together until combined with a whisk.
Add the dry to the wet and mix until combined. Add in the ½ cup chocolate chips.
Bake 20 minutes or until the sides slightly pull away from the pan, and the middle is slightly soft.
Cool on a rack, and cut into squares.

You may have noticed, that I did doll it up a bit with homemade chocolate sauce and a bit of whipped cream. It was simple, but doesn’t have to be so plain!
