Inspired by a great Pinterest picture and recipe of a red-Sangria, I created this yummy red-wine summer drink. The original recipe used a sweetened wine, which I wasn’t up for, nor did I have on hand! I did however have a bottle of gifted Pinot Noir from a few months back and wondered if anyone ever made Sangria with Pinot Noir- Usually the recipes that I see use super sweetened wines, like Moscato, or I have also seen Merlot with a bit of sugar added to the mix. So thinking that I would sort of fit in-between these two in the “sweet” scale, I tried the Pinot, and low and behold: It works!
I left it to chill overnight, to blend all the flavors, and then when I served it, I filled each glass to 1/2 full, then topped with seltzer (I used both raspberry-lime, and lemon-lime- these are no-sugar added seltzers). Garnish with some fruit, and you are good to go…until you run out!
I am adding my post to some other great summer barbecue recipes linked up at #FOODIEFRIDIY at A Dish of Daily Life blog. I wish you a wonderful weekend! My own weekend is full of parties, and a sleepover party for lots of 10 year olds…I may be making another pitcher of this Sangria for Saturday too!
