This is the second review that I have done here for a Julia Quinn title. In my last review, I shared with you that I saw her speak at a conference that I went to, and learned that Quinn is a Harvard and Radcliffe graduate, one of only 15 to be inducted into her genre’s hall of fame, and is generally amazing and smart. I would never have picked up her books…but I am so glad that I have and I hope you will too!
The Bridgerton books are so fun, and so is the newest title to the series, which is coming soon (Available March 29th at any bookseller). This new title, is the first of a series of prequels to the group.
Set between 1813 and 1825, the Bridgerton Series is a collection of eight novels, each featuring one of the eight children of the late Viscount [Edmund] Bridgerton- JQ website
Because of Miss Bridgerton features Sibilla Bridgerton, the older sister to Edmund (who is away at school during this book) and her neighbor nemesis, George Roksby. They generally dislike eachother, yet have a certain chemistry that drives the story forward.
Just to get a sense of the book, you can read Chapter 2, from Because of Miss Bridgerton, right from Julia Quinn’s website here. Fun?!
I loved this book, as I loved the first one, The Duke and I. Quinn has a talent of balancing the character development, with the background story in a way that is easily understood and hysteirically funny, while maintaining the genre of Romance completely. It reads very quickly and you can see how Julia Quinn’s writing is so expert when you finish the book (in 2 days) and still want to read more! This prequel, completely left me wanting more and also relieved that I know there will soon be another to add the the stories!
Right now on Julia’s facebook page (here) she is running an #8WeeksOfBridgertons promo, revamping the titles with new covers, sharing favorites, doing readings, and generally creating a Bridgerton madness and excitement with the forthcoming release of this new book! I encourage you to check it out, and if Romance is not your thing…just read the exerpt on her website- it is fun, and seriously…it’s the Love-month! Happy Romance Reading~
Because of Miss Bridgerton, will be available March 29th from most booksellers!
Full Disclosure: I was given an advanced reader copy of the book but not compensated in any way to review this book and if I had, I still would have given you my 100% honest opinion. Yup. That’s just how I roll, people.
