Sunday Musings and a Weekly Wrap

Sometimes things are so random, it makes you wonder if there is any sense in the world at all. And sometimes things fall into place perfectly and just come full circle. I love it when that happens, don’t you?

Like this tweet from last week:

Seriously? Did I just get called a “goddess” by my writing hero, author of A Visit from the Goon Squad and Manhattan Beach?! Are you flipping kidding. Mind. Blown. Day made. Happiness.

And how about the full circle of this book review for Gretchen Rubin’s new book, The Four Tendencies?

I had just posted the review, only to listen to a podcast episode on Marathon Training Academy, that interviewed her. They related the book to running and training for a race! It was perfect. Honestly, if you are a runner, go listen to the podcast – they don’t number them, which is annoying, but the date was Feb. 1st and they have it on the top of their website now. Go. And then buy the book if you haven’t already! Super interesting.

Then, there’s today. I never watched football in my life, until I started dating my husband and I actually cared to learn the rules. I wanted to show him that I knew a little, so I asked my mom- my mom- to teach me the rules. Like what a “down” was. Seriously. I was not a fan. Full circle to today, married to this football-officiating husband, watching more football than I could ever have imagined…and to think, all I knew of football, I learned from my mother! That is both amazing and hilarious to us both (my mom and I, I mean!) My Patriots are playing tonight, and I love this football day…not just for the commercials or food, but for the game. Full circle.

Wrapping this up, my week was good:

    • Knock wood, my kids are healthy, we are healthy,
    • We are cooking and cleaning our house for the week ahead
    • I finished 24 Days of my Advocare Challenge and moved onto days 25-52…I feel awesome and full of renewed energy for running and exercising some more. I have been doing a ton of quickie online videos, include these super fun ones that I know you would love- music is fun and they are super short and sweet!

  • I am working, sort of and figuring out my next move work-wise, so this should be a fun week!

And finally…Full circle doesn’t always win out- we had two deaths this week. Two youngish- like 45 years old people. That is not sense-making. There is no full-circle for me here. I can’t make heads or tails of why they are gone, as being good people, than why horrible, disgusting people like that Michigan doctor-of-nothing-gymnast-molester lives on and probably will…what sense is that? I don’t get it.

I have to have faith that the balance of life wins out. With the wins, there are losses. I have to say, “thank you” for the gifts like being called a “goddess” because you never know when the balance will come back and bite me in the… Well, let’s just say, I’ll say “thank you.” And leave it at that.

I will probably grow a long black hair in the middle of my forehead now. Crap.

Kudos to you for being able to get into football. Even though my husband enjoys watching it, I still haven’t been able to get into the game. At least there will be lots of good food and company at the Super Bowl party that we’re going to tonight.

Glad you loved The Four Tendencies like I did. I find it fascinating. I’m an Upholder, for better or worse. ha. I’m guessing the Patriots will win tonight so hopefully you’ll have (another) Super Bowl victory to celebrate.

I enjoy football too! I wasn’t really a fan of either team last night but it was a great game. Lots of good playing.

    Thanks for linking up!

I’m not a big football fan but that game was exciting!

Glad everyone is healthy in your house – so much is going around.

I agree that it sucks when good people die and that couple that tortured their 13 kids are healthy and alive.

I am so sorry for your losses. It’s always really sad when the people are young.

I really don’t know much about football at all. My parents went to the occasional game, but they weren’t really rabid fans of any team, and while my husband has a favorite, he’s not a rabid fan either.

We had a flag football section in my 8th grade PE class, and that’s how I learned the terminology and some of the strategy. We watch a lot of NCAA games, but not usually any NFL…but almost always watch the Superbowl, regardless of what teams are playing.

I’m the same way you were! I hated…like really hated baseball all my life. It was sooooo boring. But, my husband is an umpire, so I had to learn all about it and eventually fell in love with it too. I really had no choice in the matter. LOL And we have no rest for sports either. He goes from baseball season to basketball season and then starts all over!

I’m laughing about the long black hair… I had brothers but they were not into football. I watched a little with my Dad but didn’t pay attention to the rules. So, do you know how I learned the basic rules of football? One of those handheld football games that came out back in the late 70s. I can still remember the sounds LOL. Thanks for linking!
