Ultimate Coffee Chat: April Edition

ultimate coffeeGood morning friends!

I miss you. You know who you are! I woke up at 3 a.m. not able to sleep (what is THAT about?!) and remembered that I had to write up all the things for this morning’s Ultimate Coffee! So without further ado, let’s chat!

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I am on DONE with the Advocare 24-Day Challenge!

It was super easy and super fast…but WHY, when I followed it to a T and my husband, sort of, kind of followed it, did he lose all the weight?! Men I think, can lose weight way more easily than women. Not that I was solely tried to lose weight, but I wouldn’t have complained (wink)!24-Day Challenge

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that I am all signed up and ready to run the Shape Women’s 1/2 Marathon in NYC this month!

I can’t quite believe it, and I am not ready at all- I have barely been running, but I had the opportunity to actually run a race with a friend, and that has been high on my list of things that I’ve wanted to do! I have never been to Central Park- at least that I remember- so I am looking forward to it. I also love the idea that this is women’s only and they are using the race to coordinate with The Walk in Her Shoes (read about it here) project with CARE, whose mission it is ” to fight poverty and empower women and girls around the world.” Awesome- I hope they raise a lot of money.run a half marathon

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that last month, my boys had a birthday & so did my husband~

It was party, party, party around here. Actually not really! For the first time ever, I didn’t have a party for the boys (like the last Minion’s Themed one). They just had a couple of their besties over for a night of bowling and pizza (or pasta) and cake. Can I just tell you how much I enjoy NOT having, planning, or paying for a huge kids’ party. They just take the fun right out of it for me sometimes! This year, we didn’t have a bizillion presents or cake for days or broken bank accounts. I highly recommend NOT doing a party if you can get away with it!boys birthday

If we were having coffee I’d tell you that it is still snowing here. It is like the ultimate-April fool’s joke~

Well, at least it didn’t stick around too long, and I didn’t have to pull out the snow-pants, so it just may be here, my friends! Spring just may be finally here. Sigh. Yes!

That’s it-  I hope you have a wonderful rest of your Saturday and great Sunday tomorrow! Happy April! I am linking up with my other bloggers this morning over at

Thanks for coming by to chat~

I was so happy to kiss the big birthday bashes goodbye. Yes, I did enjoy them (somewhat), and I did most of the decorations and made the cakes myself, etc., but having a million little kids running around (and trying to explore the house) always drove me nutzo. There’s a reason I never considered becoming a teacher. 😉

How fun, the Shape women’s 1/2 in NYC! I love New York! Running my 2nd NYC Marathon there in November. Look forward to hearing about your race experience.
Sounds much more doable to do a small party at home with your boys. And, they had a great time I’m sure.

Thanks Shannon- I am excited too! The boys were thrilled with their buddies just coming over and they had lots of attention for the whole week anyway with family, so they definitely got their fill!

Good luck with the Shape women’s run- that sounds like so much fun! I love women’s runs like that- very inspiring! Happy birthday to the gang at your house!

Yay! Best of luck to you on the NYC half this month! :]!

Low-key birthdays can be the best thing ever sometimes. All the planning can be so draining!

I’m wishing for warmer weather soon as well! Fingers crossed!

We got away with not having birthday parties for my kids (outside of just having dinner with family) for many years, in fact, my 9 year old has only had 2 actual parties with friends and planning and stress!

Love the idea behind the Shape women’s event. Good luck to you!

It snowed on April 1st here, too. Which is not at all unusual. I warned my brother (who picked that weekend to come in from CA) that it’s a bad weekend to come.

Darlene will be at that half . . . Central Park is really lovely (and hilly — although I don’t think they’re as bad as people fear). I always thought I’d do it, but I ended up picking a different half for NY.
