Ultimate Coffee: Novembers’ Let’s Chat!

Ultimate Coffee | Hardly A GoddessWhat’s up?! Good morning & happy first Saturday of the month…of November! Wow. So October is done? How did that happen?!  October is always a whirlwind of soccer, sign-ups for winter sports, birthdays, and Halloween craziness. Time to catch up my friends! It’s been a while.  Welcome to my monthly link-up up with several other bloggers who share a love of chatting and coffee- If you were here with me, and I handed you a mug of coffee, and maybe that cookie that I may have wished that I baked, but really I may not have…well, here’s what I would tell you about what is new with me:

If we were having coffee, I would tell you… My daughter is 10. Her birthday sort of snuck up on us. People always say, you have to enjoy these moments of chaos with your kids, because it goes SO fast. Well, of course it does. I am busy as H-ll. Fast is just part of my normal routine. But “10” for my peanut-butter kid, seems unlikely and indicates that I do have to hug her even more than I already do. She is my noticer, my take-your-time gal, my independent spirit, creative, funny, unassumingly smart, beautiful old-soul daughter. She was the “baby-maker” baby. Which is to say, the one that was such a good and cuddly baby, that I sometimes worried that she’d just go adopt another mom. Every single one of my friends wanted to hold her, and she’d let them, smiling up at them, like she was home. She is now, 10 of course, which changes everything. It already brings the stubborn, mom-fighter, out in any girl, and in mine, well… She is a fierce and wonderful kid.birthday pics

If we were having coffee, I would tell you… I am doing a half-marathon on Sunday. This time, my family or at least some of them will be there to cheer me on a bit. It is on the coast, so it should be really scenic, but it’s a loop. I think I will have to do the loop twice and then a bit more to do the 13.1 miles. Of course I am not ready. That isn’t exactly how I roll. I started “training” which is called running for normal non-runner speakers, and I have to say- my knees feel good. My breath feels good. I feel excited to run this. I think I do way better when there’s not so much pressure on the line, like a full marathon- running is boring when it’s that long. This 13.1 might be my sweet spot.run a half marathon

If we were having coffee, I would tell you…I am planning to go home to Central New York before Thanksgiving for a visit, which is wonderful! I cannot wait to have 2 Thanksgivings! One the week before and one the week-of. How nice is that? I love Thanksgiving because it’s about food. Seriously! It’s the food and family and not all the pressure of the present exchange that comes with Christmas. I love that too, but somehow Thanksgiving is just cozy with pie, and loved ones, and the first chill of winter coming. I love it. We are also planning to go to Santa’s Village over Thanksgiving break, and if you have never been there, stay tuned for my review. I love that place, and it is the perfect pre-Holiday preparation to get into the spirit. Plus the kids adore every part of it. Should be super fun.Santas Village

If we were having coffee, I would tell you.. I can’t stand that Target, and all the Mall shops are full force into Christmas. Like with the music. It’s Nov.5th. I am not there yet. Give me until Thanksgiving, and then we can talk! I am all for the shopping ahead of time, but the decorations and music can stop.

I hope you have an awesome weekend. It is awesome for me, by virtue of the fact that I am not working! A day off, an extra hour to sleep in tomorrow, and a free Sunday to have some fun….Yes. Whatever you do, please enjoy.

Aw, Happy Birthday to your daughter! Yes, you need to treasure these times – the good and the back-talk. 😉 I am totally with you on being against this early holiday stuff. #RespectTheBird. Thanks for joining us for coffee!

Enjoy your race tomorrow! Sounds like it will be beautiful and that you’re mentally prepared, at least. The half marathon is my favorite distance. 😍

I’m totally with you on the Christmas music. Hold that until after Thanksgiving, please.

Happy birthday to your daughter! She sounds like a lovely little girl. Are they really starting with the Xmas stuff already? Ugh! I’m looking forward to all the food for Thanksgiving but I still have no idea what the menu will be!

good morning! Good luck with your half and your planned trip to New York sounds lovely! I am with you on the holiday music- just say no ! One of my girlfriends text me a picture of her Christmas tree yesterday and all I could think was, what the hell is wrong with you! LOL!

Halloween is now getting lost in the way-too-early Christmas frenzy! I try to stay out of stores so I won’t have to see or hear it. Good luck with your half marathon this weekend! That’s my favorite distance.

Happy birthday to your daughter + I hope your half marathon went well! Pretty scenic places and having people to cheer you on make such a big difference! That’s awesome that you get to have 2 Thanksgivings! 😀 I’m going to be working, so I’ll have to live vicariously through you!

How did your half go? Watching the marathoners trying to shuffle around NYC . . . I don’t know that I’ll ever go all the way. All my crazy marathoner friends say I should, but when you’re really slow . . . I mean really, who wants to run for 6 hours?

Looping twice would definitely not be my choice though!
